ELECTRICITY INTERRUPTION ON 21 OCTOBER 2018

Residents are advised of a proposed electricity shutdown on SUNDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2018, between the hours of 08h00 and 16h00, in various areas of Nelson Mandela Bay, caused by the temporary shutdown of the College Drive Substation, to allow repairs and maintenance to be carried out on a local transformer.  

Areas affected: Mill Park, St. Georges Park (only end of College Drive Road), Glendinningvale, Greenacres, Scotstown.

Streets affected: Ascot Road, Barris Walk Street, Bradshaw Street, Churchill Road, College Drive, Conyngham Road, Cape Road, Dene Road, Fairford Road, Highbeech Road, Lenox Street, McLean Road, Mill Park Road, Mortimer Road, Nightingale Street, Ramsay Lane, Salisbury Avenue, Wares Road, Way Avenue, Wembley Road, Westview Drive, Woodville Road, Young Road. 

All installations must be treated as live for the duration of the outage. - Apologies are tendered for any inconvenience caused.

SAFETY AND SECURITY DIRECTORATE

DIRECTOR: OPERATIONS AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

(FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES)

POSITION CODE: 180033

TASK Grade 17 (R609 852 – R847 872 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience:

 

  • At least a tertiary qualification at the level of Higher Diploma in Fire Technology (SAESI) or equivalent (IFE or applicable Technikon/University qualification). (Please submit proof of equivalent qualification).
  • Five years at Senior Divisional Head/Manager level at a recognised full-time professional fire service.
  • Valid Code EC driver’s licence
  • No criminal record.
  • Computer literacy – MS Office applications.
  • Good working knowledge of Incident Command System Principles.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.

 

Key attributes and competencies:

 

  • Must be physically fit and able bodied.
  • Presentation, report-writing and managerial skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

 

Required to be on standby and to work overtime during specific unplanned emergencies/disasters.

 

Job purpose:

 

Manages the procedural applications, interventions and activities of the Northern/Southern Operations and Resource Management Divisions, through the planning and co-ordination of priorities and resources, reporting on outcomes and/or proposing opportunities for improving service levels, formulating approaches and plans to address the provision of firefighting, rescue and emergency services and implementing corrective measures to improve the status of the function or address deviations, in order to ensure that the Sub-directorate is positioned to react efficiently to major threats or occurrences of fire within the municipal area.

 

 

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
