DEPUTY DIRECTOR: OPERATIONS

VACANCY

DEPUTY DIRECTOR: OPERATIONS

(TRAFFIC AND LICENSING SERVICES)

POSITION CODE: 170003

TASK Grade 15 (R481 212 – R669 048 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits) 

PLEASE NOTE: This vacancy can only be submitted online.

Requirements: 

  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualification PLUS a Traffic Officer Diploma (obtained from an RTMC accredited traffic training college) PLUS a National Diploma in Road Traffic Management or BTech in Road Traffic and Municipal Police Management or Bachelor’s Degree in Policing/Bachelor of Laws.
  • Must be registered as a Traffic Officer in terms of the Road Traffic Act.
  • Five to seven years’ relevant experience.
  • Valid Code B driver’s Licence.
  • No criminal conviction.
  • Completion of competencies as per the National Treasury competency modules is recommended.
  • A Diploma as an Examiner of Vehicles or Examiner of Driver’s licenses would be advantageous.
  • Must be computer literate – MS Office applications. 

Competencies: 

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and municipal policies.
  • Planning, organising and management skills.
  • Effective communication, report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience financial management and budgetary control.
  • Must be physically fit and able bodied. 

Job purpose: 

  • Managing the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting sequences of outcomes associated with plans and programmes designed to accomplish key service delivery objectives with respect to Traffic Operations and Law Enforcement.
  • Co-ordinating operations associated with the enforcement of Laws and By-laws in order to ensure that the risk of damage to property and/or loss of lives is limited.

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
